Villa in Dragos

2011, Istanbul – The rented villa is located in Dragos, Maltepe. The design concept is developed with the idea of creating modular, convertible and flexible lighting and furniture solutions. When the client needs to move house he can take the furniture apart and built it together according his needs and the requirements of the new living space.

For the lightning element a traditional and very common instrument in Classical Turkish Music is used. The bendir is a wooden frame drum with a membrane. Due to the thickness of the natural membrane (usually made of gut), the effect is a semi-translucent light, which creates a new potential for a lighting element. The furniture is made of massif birch wood and requires CNC machine processing.
