Büyükada Open Studyo Apartment

2021, Büyükada, Princess Islands, Istanbul – The existing apartment in Büyükada was defined by a fragmented and confusing layout. The plan was completely reorganized to create a clearer, more open and fluid living environment. In the new configuration, the orientation of the communal spaces was changed, allowing the main living areas to face south and benefit from increased daylight and views.

At the centre of the apartment is an open kitchen designed to accommodate professional-scale baking and pastry production. The kitchen connects seamlessly with an intermediate dining area, an open workspace for computer-based work and a large integrated library. Cooking, working, relaxing and socialising are thus brought together within a continuous and spacious communal area.

Two private rooms are positioned separately from the shared living spaces, while a retro-inspired bathroom introduces a distinctive character to the apartment. The area opening onto the balcony strengthens the relationship between interior and exterior, bringing daylight and the atmosphere of the island into the home.

The project transforms a complex plan into a clear spatial composition that integrates living, working and food production within a coherent and flexible interior.
